As the images of John McCain and Barrack Obama paying tribute to the victims of 9/11 rolled across my screen, I was struck by the difference in their presentation of the flowers. McCain bent over to lay his down and Obama tossed his flower onto the amassed pile of flowers and other remembrances. I immediately wondered if I was the only one who noticed that or not. I even thought to myself that perhaps I was being to callous to even think that Obama would purposely make a gesture that could so easily be misconstrued. Later this evening, MSN had a snapshot of that very image on the home page.
I'm sure some will argue that Obama showed disrespect by simply tossing the flower as opposed to laying it down. I certainly don't think that he deliberately was making any kind of negative statement, but I do think that it is just another example of his inexperience and bad judgment.
His problem seems to be that he is running for office 10 years ahead of his time and should have let Washington (God forbid) season him a little bit more.
